Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Cetyl Alcohol, Butylene Glycol: Conditioning agents and cationic emulsifiers derived from the natural plant oil Colza, forming elegant cationic emulsions that give Knotty Boy Conditioning Sprays their silky soft feel. Certified Organic Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil: Hemp seed oil is one of the richest sources of polyunsaturated fats, including Omega 3 and Omega 6 essential fatty acids and the GLA fatty acids. The rich moisturizing and emollient properties of the oil provides instant conditioning and hair-softening properties. It also helps to condition the scalp, increasing the skin and hair's natural moisture retention capacity. Silk Amino Acids: A highly substantive amino acid, it is a powerful moisturizer whose small molecular structure allows it to penetrate into the hair follicle and bind to skin to impart a lustrous silky feel after use. Panthenol: Pro-Vitamin B5 Complex. A vegetable derived vitamin complex which works to moisturize, soothe and repair damaged skin and improve the condition of the hair. Aqua and Hydrolysed Oats: A hydrating complex of hydrolyzed oat protein and oligosaccharides, 100% vegetable-dervied from oats. It is moisture retentive, conditioning and increases skin and hair softness & texture. Grapefruit Seed Extract: A natural antibacterial, antimicrobial, & antifungal compound that can be used as an effective preservative in cosmetics and foods. Has there never been a conditioner made for dreadlocks before? This is the first conditioner of any kind SPECIFICALLY for dreadlocks only that we know of in the world.
Did dreadheads never condition their hair before? Standard conditioners tend to unlock dreads, especially in the early stages, so most people didn't use it. We, along with most authorities on the subject, encourage people to not use regular wash-out conditioners on their dreadlocks for those reasons. Knotty Boy Dreadlock Conditioning Sprays are lighter than a standard wash-out conditioner and suitable for mature dreadlocks.
Why is conditioning dreadlocks important? Dreads tend to dry out, get fragile and break. They also tend to get fuzzy, especially if they are washed regularly, which we recommend. This is a grooming product, in addition to boosting the overall health of dreadlocks. People also love having their dreads and hair smell great.
Why does it come as a spray? Is it easier to use? With a spray you can just apply it to the exact place you want it, without getting the whole head and scalp wet.
How/why do dreadlocks get frizzy? The longer dreads get, the less oil they get from the scalp, so they tend to dry out and frizz up. There is also breakage as time goes on resulting in that fuzzy halo, which is normal. The scents we chose are commonly requested scents by our salon clients, staff and Knotty Boy customers – the Coco-Knotty scent was patterned after that warm suntan lotion scent that reminds people of the beach, and the Green Tea is a very fresh, light, and more subtly-scented alternative to the warmer coconut scent. "YEAH BABY! I looove your new conditioning sprays!!! To be honest, I didn't know what to expect. I thought they'd be a perfumey, water-based mist (the smell lasting maybe 2 hours) that just soaked my head or made me feel greasy. Boy, was I wrong! It's been 6 hours since I sprayed my dreads and the scent is still goin' strong. I smell like I got back from the Caribbean! It was so easy to use -- I just sectioned my dreads and sprayed. The hardest part was figuring out which scent to use first!
