Knotty Boy is committed to the manufacturing of completely all-natural body products. This includes using in our products only the purest and highest-quality ingredients that are available on the market today, and as close to their source of origin as possible. Most of the ingredients you will recognize as being safe for use on your body. Some you will not recognize from their scientific name, but will soon understand what they are and where they naturally come from after reading their descriptions. The only exception to this all-natural imperative is the Knotty Boy Emergency Dreadlock Removal Kit Shampoo and Conditioner. Along with the all-natural ingredients we normally use in our shampoos and conditioners, these particular products also contain a few of the much-discussed coconut-derived ingredients (but never SLS's) in order increase efficacy in detangling and removing something as difficult as dreadlocks from hair. However, please note that we have made every effort to insure that these are the absolute safest, and mildest, of all the synthetic ingredients approved for use in body products in the industry. The Emergency Dreadlock Removal Kit is the only exception to our strict commitment to the manufacturing of truly all-natural products for this reason, and have kept these ingredients as close to all-natural as possible. These ingredients are still far safer than what you will find in normal drugstore hair products, and are typically used in most 'natural' hair products you would find in health-food stores. Tea Tree Essential Oil From Australia, this renowned essential oil is used for the treatment of skin and scalp irritations. It is Nature's antiseptic, and has been used for centuries for its antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties. Tea Tree Oil helps prevent and treat dry, flaking scalp conditions, and encourages healthy hair growth.

Rosemary Essential Oil Used in hair care products to help prevent dry, flaking scalp and to help encourage healthy hair growth, Rosemary Essential Oil (Rosmarinus officinalis) is used widely as a specific tonic for hair and skin. Rosemary is also used as a stimulant for the mind, helping with memory and mental clarity.

Peppermint Essential Oil Used extensively for relieving itching, inflammation and treating oily skin and hair due to its astringent properties. It provides a cooling effect to irritated tissues and has a minty, fresh scent.

Cetearyl Alcohol Cetearyl Alcohol is not an 'alcohol' that would have a drying effect on skin but rather an emulsifying wax made by combining fatty alcohols extracted from Palm Oil and other vegetable sources. It is used in many cosmetics as an emollient, thickening agent, moisturizer, emulsifier and stabilizer, as well as a carrying agent for other ingredients.

Peg-40 Castor Oil A natural emollient derived from Castor Oil which gives body and shine to the hair and helps restore a natural, healthy appearance.

Jojoba Oil Jojoba Oil contains mystiric acid, proteins and a collagen-like protein making it ideal for hair care products. Extracted from the seeds of the desert shrub simondsia chinesis, Joboba has excellent spreading, lubricating and penetrating properties. More like a wax than oil, it does not go rancid, making it ideal for personal body care products. Jojoba Oil is excellent for hair and scalp conditioning, and is useful in oily-skin treatments.

Panthenol Pro Vitamin B5 Using Panthenol in hair care products gives hair long lasting moisture, improves manageability, reduces split ends and damage, and adds thickness and shine to the hair. It is a Vitamin B complex that can add strength and body to hair by filling in cracks on the hair shaft, thereby firming up the fiber.
