Here's the scoop- you should ONLY use the gel on WET HAIR!!!

After washing, palm-roll in a pea-sized blob per couple of dreads.

Too much gel, using gel on dry hair and exposing gel to too much heat (ie from a hair dryer) can cause flakiness.  This doesn't mean you shouldn't use a blow-dryer at all, just keep it on a low setting.
