We really recommend the wax for up to the first 6 months, or however long it takes for your locks to fully knot up. With consistent backcombing of the ends and palmrolling, most people are off the wax and using Tightening Gel by about 3 months. You can continue to use the wax sparingly for mostly cosmetic reasons as it makes all those fuzzies lie flat on the dread and moisturizes your locks, too.
