Wax or Tightening Gel for starting my dreads?
Either product is great for starting locks, but wax does have one huge advantage in
that it’s NOT water soluble. What that means for you is that you can wash your
hair (after the initial 2 week wait) and the wax will hold those knots
together. The Tightening Gel is great for starting locks too, but you will have
to reapply every time you wet your hair, and backcomb and palmroll after every
wash, without fail. We recommend using the wax to start for the first couple of
months, then switching over to the gel once your hair is nice and knotted
up. In the end, it’s totally up to you!
