Belinda Hinmueller & Her 30,0000km Tandem Bike Trip!

Barry Kerch - Drummer, Shinedown

No big deal, its just Knotty Barry from Shinedown popping by the Knotty Boy Lock Shop to get his wild-man mane o' locks sweetened up for the show later that night. While Knotty stylist Kris worked her magic, Kelley swooped in and hit him up for Knotty Boy sponsorship before he left, which he happily accepted, leaving with an armload of goodies and a head of tidy locks!

"Knotty Boy products keep my hair rockin' and looking good day
in and day out on the road or at home.  Everyone comments on
how my dreads look and smell and I can thank Knotty Boy for that."

Barry Kerch

This is the email he sent us later...

Hey Kelley, Thank you so much for a great experience today at the Salon.
Also, please thank Kris for me.  She was amazing and a delight to be around.
Too much fun for a sometimes-painful hair appointment.
Thanks again,
Barry

We've officially concluded Barry just might be the sweetest guy in rock we've met so far.

Belinda Hinmueller & Her 30,0000km Tandem Bike Trip!

Meet Nurse Belinda and Teacher Roland as they begin their epic journey together July 2009, tandem cycling 30,000km from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to Usuhuia, Argentina! The Knotty Boy Lock Shop caught wind of their excellent adventure for charity and helped Belinda out with a lovely head of locks to mark this huge chapter in her life with Roland, as together they roooolll on down the Pan American Highway for the next year.

Watch the making of her locks and learn more about their incredible journey here!

Keep up with them via their online journal http://www.cyclingwithsally.com/   Good luck, Belinda and Roland!

Well, foo', we want you!

Why Sponsorship?

Over the years we've become aware of the amazing talent many members of our Knotty family have and decided that you could use a little of the appreciation, not to mention exposure, from us here at KnottyBoy.com. It's not easy to make it in the big ol' world doing what we love to do, so we're encouraging fellow Knotty heads to follow their passions and live their dreams, and we're doing what we can to support talented superkids of the Knotty kind!

What You Get As a Sponsored One:
As an officially sponsored Knotty kid, Knotty Boy keeps you pretty much stocked up on all your hair and apparel needs for the duration of the sponsorship session. (Because everyone knows being a superstar is tough business and the last thing you want to worry about is your hair or *shudder* laundry.) Sponsorship typically includes loads of free apparel, Knotty Boy products, stickers, two sessions of professional dreadlock maintenance at 40% off at our Knotty Boy Lock Shop & Salon in Vancouver if you're in the area, and more publicity than you can shake a stick at (over 20,000 unique visitors per week checking you out here at knottyboy.com, to be precise). No money included at this time, but that still ain't too shabby now is it!

What We Ask of You As a Sponsored One:
Again, this depends on the applicant, but some things that are typically required are photos of you in or with your new Knotty Boy loot (in action, if possible), quotes from you endorsing the products for our website and print ads, links to KB and sponsorship mention on your own website and, of course, you need to mention that you're an official sponsor of Knotty Boy DreadStuff when asked about your nappy ‘do in interviews and wherever else possible. We also require you to regularly keep us posted on what you've been up to (dates of upcoming shows or events where people can check you out, TV specials, newspaper clippings, etc.) so we can update your section of the Sponsorship page, thereby promoting you further! Upon acceptance, a contract will be drawn up to be signed, detailing both party's obligations.

More Info…

Any current dreadhead and Knotty Boy product user is eligible for a six-month sponsorship. Every six months, through KnottyBoy.com and official Knotty Boy MySpace, Facebook and Twitter pages, we will be calling out for candidates to send us their moves in the form of a portfolio/promotional pack of information about yourself, including photos, videos, copies of press clippings and awards, your bio with details of how often you perform/ride/do your thang, and every other reason you can think of for why we should sponsor your tricky self. Be sure to include your contact information, and then mail it all off to us at the address found on the Contact page.

Don't worry, it doesn't take a lot to knock our socks off, so it's definitely worth a shot!

There are three categories for which we accept submissions: Bands/Music, Sports (extreme or otherwise), and Other. One special individual will be chosen for each six-month period for Bands/Music and Sports, and one individual will be chosen for Other. (Check out the current and past sponsored Knotty kidz to get an idea of what we like to see.) After undergoing an intense examination of the gathered submissions, we select the final sponsored Knotty kids for that period. If you are chosen, you will be contacted immediately to sign the paperwork, gather what we need from you for our website, get your loot sent off, and then we'll announce the new Sponsored Knotty Kids on the website and dedicate the following eZine to welcoming and profiling our new Kids!

So go on with your bad self - hook it up with Knotty Boy!

Upcoming Sponsorship Deadlines

The next round of sponsorship call-outs starts September 1,2009, submissions are due by February 1, 2010  and new Sponsored Kids will be announced March 1, 2010.
