Yes. Keep in mind that single dreads get lonely and will try to convince the rest of your hair to play! By this, we mean that nearby hair strands will end up working their way in and becoming part of the one or five locks you've made.
An easy way to find whether this is happening (apart from the obvious visual) is to hold a lock and gently pull in a 360° circle, any nearby hairs not already incorporated should give a sharp pull at their root.
Hook your smallest finger through that space between the errant strand and your lock, and then pull it verrrry gently out of your dread. Pay special attention to palm rolling only the hair you want incorporated into that lock, especially at the root.
