Initially, you have a lot of work to do to keep the locking process going. You'll be backcombing the ends of your dreads and palm rolling as often as possible - daily is ideal.

Most people will have to coax their dreads a little and this process takes a lot of time and patience. We suggest waiting two weeks from starting your locks for your first shampoo, then shampooing once a week after that.

A typical weekly routine would look something like this:

• shampoo and rinse thoroughly

• palmroll while still damp with Tightening Gel if desired

• ensure your locks are totally dry before sleeping / waxing

• palmroll dry with small amount of Dread Wax

• get your roots professionally maintained every 3 - 4 months

Not too bad when you consider how long it takes the undreadful to blow-dry and flat-iron their hair!
